ASO411 Guidelines - Our Mandate

For an agency to be listed on the ASO411 web site, it must do one or more of the following:

  1. Offer services directly to people affected by, at risk for, or living with HIV/AIDS.
  2. Work within the broader HIV/AIDS movement at the local, provincial or federal level in key areas such as research, lobbying, funding, prevention education, treatment, and/or information exchange.
  3. Offer services directly to marginalized communities which may be particularly high-risk for HIV, including, but not limited to: substance users, street-involved people, sex workers, youth, gay and bisexual men, men who have sex with other men, women and ethno-cultural groups.
  4. Address one or more of the following determinants of health, related specifically to the well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) and people at risk for HIV:
  • Income and housing
  • Social support
  • Education
  • Employment and working conditions
  • Safe communities and community involvement
  • Quality of air, water, food
  • Personal health practices and coping skills
  • Healthy child development
  • Health services and access to them
  • Gender
  • Culture
